FLORIDA ALLIGATOR HUNTING We was hunting alligator with an outfitter for over four hours, thinking we was not going to see a big gator this time, when I heard my son yell gator on. We were blind casting on a windy day to try and hook a gator of size. Up till now we only seen up to a seven footer and not very many at that. Once I heard my son yell, I dropped my pole and ran to him with my heart beating out of my chest. Both guides were already there and handed me one of their pole and I was told it’s a big boy get another line on him. You won’t believe how many times I tried to hook him. After about 20 casts or more I hooked him, and off to the races he went with both me and my son’s pole screaming. It was not hooked up long when my line broke and we was back to one line on this beast. The guide started casting and hooked up again on second cast, handed the pole to me and we both fought him for about thirty mins before we finally got him to pop his head up. He is around the high ten’s our guide states. That’s what we want, let’s kill em. I was directed to the left and my son gave his pole to the other guide who went to the right and we formed a big v. my son was then guided to the middle of the v with a pistol and shot his gator one time in the back of the head. what a site to see the big boy role over and his back leg wave as if to say by. A hard fought battle, but we got one heck of a gator on an outdoor adventure I’m sure neither of us will soon forget.
